Reflecting on Carers Week 2025

A huge thank you to everybody who helped make Carers Week 2025 an incredibly special and significant week. Whether you joined us at the CBS Arena, our sessions across Coventry and Warwickshire, spoke to our team or engaged with our social media posts, we want to say thank you!

To every network partner who came along, hosted a stall, shared resources, offered support, or simply showed up with kind words and open hearts, thank you. Your presence meant the world to us and to the carers who attended. It reminded us that we are stronger together when we stand in support of unpaid carers.

A special shoutout to Coventry Building Society Arena for so generously hosting us. Your hospitality and support helped us bring carers, families, professionals, and community voices together under one roof.

Caring About Equality

The theme for Carers Week 2025 was 'Caring About Equality' and thanks to you we were able to highlight the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Not only that but we were able to identify and support several unpaid carers throughout the week. Aided by our support and the support of other local organisations, these carers are less likely to miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, because of their caring role.

"We know that caring doesn’t begin and end with Carers Week!

"We know that sometimes the ‘noise’ and messaging around this week can be difficult to swallow when there is no ‘off switch’ to caring and your caring role won’t stop today when Carers Week does.

"Over 90% of our staff team, volunteers and trustees including myself are currently caring for or have experience of caring for people in our lives and we personally know the challenges of holding yourselves, families, jobs, finances and much more together whilst providing care.

Caring is often undertaken without thanks, without rest and often without the right support at the right time which can feel incredibly isolating, exhausting, and overwhelming.

"We know we’re not perfect, but we are committed to supporting carers in the best way we can with the resources that we have, and we are always striving to do better!

"Whilst it might not always be obvious, in addition to the services that we offer we are working tirelessly at a local and national level with some amazing people to try and improve health and social care systems and support for carers.

"We want to be able to provide support that is available in the right way at the right time which makes a positive difference, and we know that for many carers we achieve this because you tell us we do but we also know that this is not everyone’s experience so we must try harder!

"During carers week we shout a bit louder about what we do and why, because we have a platform and people’s attention, and we hope that our efforts go someway to effecting real change and making people aware of the support that is available to them.

"This year’s theme for Carers Week underpins what we strive for every day, of every week and that is: Caring about Equality which includes seeking fair access to education and work, health services, financial support, and respite opportunities for carers of all ages.

"Carers matter and deserve to live well whilst caring and we will keep on pushing for the changes that need to happen to make this a reality."

Carers Week Round-Up

Monday - Celebrating Unpaid Carers at the CBS Arena!

We kicked off Carers Week with an incredible event at the Coventry Building Society Arena!
It was a wonderful day filled with Carers from across Coventry and Warwickshire, our Young Carers team, and brilliant staff not forgetting all our local partner agencies who joined us to celebrate the theme of ‘Caring About Equality’

With engaging stalls, wellbeing activities, and meaningful conversations. Every carer who joined reminded us why this work matters – thank you for sharing your stories, laughter and time with us.

Tuesday - Carers Book Club

Our Carers Book Club got together and enjoyed some discussion and debate as they reflected on the latest book they've been reading. An enjoyable and inclusive way to meet like-minded carers and take some time out from caring.

Tuesday - Henna Group

Our group enjoyed a wonderful Henna (Mehndi) session where they were able to get creative with some Henna designs which looked fantastic!

Tuesday - Beyond Limits Carers Group

Our Beyond Limits Carers Groups enjoyed a special Carers Week session, receiving advice and support to help them as they care for loved ones with learning difficulties.

Wednesday - Walking History Tour

For two hours, we were immersed in stories of old Coventry from lost buildings and war-torn tales to surprising links with Egyptian history! It was a special opportunity to walk, talk and reflect on how far our city and our carers’ community has come.
