Our Young Adult Carers’ Information, Advice and Support Worker (YAC Worker) provides support to 14-25 year old carers on issues regarding managing a caring role, education and/or employment, especially those who are in neither but want support in accessing them.
The YAC worker will work with young adult carers either in a group setting or provide one-to-one support during transition to adulthood alongside their caring role. There will be age appropriate activities and social events to give you a break, reduce social isolation and encourage peer support within and outside of the sessions.
Support and advice will also be provided within colleges/university and with application forms, enrolment processes, job search and visits to educational establishments. The YAC worker will work with you to improve attendance at work or in education, helping to identify life skills such as time management and organisation. Advice and support will also be provided with CVs, cover letters or personal statements as well as financial advice and where appropriate signposting to other agencies if required.
