Our Free Training

Carers Trust Heart of England organises a range of Training and Learning to assist you in your caring role. All our courses are free.

VIP Group learning and sharing

We like to recognise family carers as “Very Important People” and have chosen to call our Learning, and Sharing sessions VIP.

Our VIP group sessions are designed to provide you with information and key skills to help you in your caring role. They provide an opportunity for you to exchange ideas and coping strategies with other carers in the same situations as you.

They are designed for up to 10 people and are tailored to the requirements of those attending.

Organised over a 6 week period, it’s up to you to decide how many you want to attend after the first.

We may be able to provide replacement care to enable you to take part.

Subjects that can be covered include:

  • Managing your caring role
  • Looking after yourself
  • Coping with, or relieving, stress and anxiety
  • Dealing with emergencies
  • Dealing with difficult behaviour
  • Understanding the condition of the person you look after

One to one training in your home

There are many aids and adaptations to help you in your caring role but for them to be of most use they need to be the right ones and be used properly. We can come into your home to advise on what aids would be best for you and how to use them in your home setting. This can include:

  • Assessing what aids and adaptations could help you
  • Safe hoist transfers
  • Moving and handling
  • Equipment issues
  • Mobility issues

Meet and make friendships with other parents in the same situation and work together to learn new ways to help you deal and cope with:
